Accessibility Statement for PageTiger Document Viewing Application

This accessibility statement applies to the document viewing application within the PageTiger platform (view.pagetiger.com or customerdomain.pagetiger.com)

This application is hosted on the PageTiger platform. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this application. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • navigate most of the application using just a keyboard
  • navigate most of the application using speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the application using a screen reader

We’ve also made the application text as simple as possible to understand.

Conformance status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. PageTiger Documents are conformant with WCAG 2.2 level AA when configured using accessibility supported features.

Each organisation which publishes content on the PageTiger platform is responsible for making sure it meets the accessibility regulations.

  • HTML
  • WAI-ARIA
  • CSS
  • JavaScript

These technologies are relied upon for conformance with the accessibility standards used.

Limitations and alternatives

Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility of PageTiger Document Viewer, there may be some limitations. Below is a description of known limitations, and alternative solutions that can be applied by document authors to ensure compliance. Please contact us if you observe an issue not listed below.

Known limitations for PageTiger Document Viewer:

  1. Legacy image-based interface is not accessible to Screen Readers
When using the legacy image-based interface, text representations of the page content are not available to screen readers. We have provided two alternative interface systems which are fully screen reader compliant. These can be accessed using the menu system, or by pressing the tab key on initial load. It is the intention that this interface will become the default interface, and we are currently working towards this.
  2. PDF Download from the Document Viewer
If enabled, PDFs downloaded using the Save as PDF option may not be fully optimised for accessibility. Images in the PDF may not contain alternative text content. Some header structure and reading order may not be optimised for screen reader use. This feature uses a legacy component to generate a PDF which has not yet been updated to support recent changes added to support the new accessible interface. We are planning to update the export component to enhance the accessibility of downloaded PDFs. Document authors may choose to disable this feature or provide a link to an alternative version which has the necessary accessibility features.
  3. Automated Interactivity
If the document author has enabled time-based automation within the document, there is currently no way for users to adjust the timing if they require additional time. It is the intention that this will be available in the future. In the interim, document authors are encouraged carefully consider the use of time-based automation to ensure it is suitable for all users. To meet full compliance, if time-based automation is added by a document author, an alternative method to access the content should be added to the document.

Assessment approach

PageTiger assessed the accessibility of PageTiger Document Viewer by the following approaches:

  • Self-evaluation
